November Anime Preview

This month, we're ordering a nice variety of anime and video game merchandise, including some gorgeous Marvel and DC Bishoujo Statues, some Play Arts ~Kai~ action figures, and some Nintendo merchandise.

DC Wonder Woman Bishoujo Statue

Most of these Shunya Yamashita designed statues have been based on heroines from the Marvel universe, and all of them have been very well received. (Except for Scarlet Witch, for some reason.) More recently, Kotobukiya started producing similar figures for the ladies of DC Comics, starting with Batgirl and Catwoman, and now with Wonder Woman. She stands over 9 inches tall (1/7 scale) and is sculpted to the detail and quality standards set by those who came before her.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Asuka Ballerina Ani*Statue

Asuka and Rei, and, to a lesser extent, Mari and Misato from the Neon Genesis Evangelion series have been immortalized in figures that run the gamut in terms of price, theme, and quality. Kotobukiya has been churning out quite a few recently, and this one of Asuka in a pink ballerina tutu should delight fans who already have her Plug Suit or Maid Version figures. Kouei Matsumoto sculpted her in 1/7 scale, so she's 9 inches in height, and she's intended to be displayed alongside her blue haired counterpart...

Neon Genesis Evangelion Rei Ballerina Ani*Statue

It's rare that these two are ever separated. Figures might come out months apart, but things feel right when they're side by side. Featuring a lace adorned and frilly white tutu and a deep blue bow, Rei is seated, her left leg behind her and her right leg pointed outward in a pose that accentuates her form. Also sculpted by Kouei Matsumoto, Rei matches the 1/7 scale of Asuka. However, being seated, she only measures 4 1/2 inches in height.

Front Mission Play Arts Kai Zephyr Action Figure

The Front Mission series has been in the Square stable for quite some time now, and most recently, they switched from the typical strategic turn-based combat to a more active third person combat. Regardless of how you felt about that choice, this Zephyr action figure looks nice, and it meets the standard that has been set by other Play Arts ~Kai~ figures. Designed to fit any pose, Zephyr is 6 1/8 inches tall and comes with a massive gun, interchangeable hands, and a shoulder mounted missile launcher.

Front Mission Play Arts Kai Zephyr Action Figure

Accompanying Zephyr is another giant mecha (or 'wanzer' as they're known in the series), Enyo. 5 1/2 inches tall, Enyo is slightly smaller than its counterpart, but it makes up for it with the extra weapon. So that's two guns (one big, and one very big) plus the shoulder mounted missile launcher.

Halo: Reach Play Arts Kai Carter-A259 Action Figure

Square Enix designed Play Arts ~Kai~ figures for Noble Six (the character you play in the game), Emile-A239, and Jun-A266. It was only a matter of time before they got to the other three members of Noble Team. Carter-A259 is the no-nonsense team leader, who comes with an extra set of hands to hold his DMR, grenade, or knife.

Halo: Reach Play Arts Kai Jorge-052 Action Figure

Jorge-052 is the requisite heavy weapons specialist of Noble Team. While not as maneuverable or svelte as some of his squad mates, Jorge-052 makes up for that with his gun. His really, really, really big Gatling gun. Oh, and he also has a grenade.

Halo: Reach Play Arts Kai Kat-B320 Action Figure

The second in command of Noble team, Kat-B320 is the only figure out of the six that comes with two guns--both an assault rifle and the beastly (and somewhat overpowered) pistol. Ultra-poseable just like the other five, this will complete your squad.

LittleBigPlanet Sackboy Superstars Mini Figures

We love LittleBigPlanet, and the infinitely customizable nature of the silent protagonist of the series makes them perfect for this type of blind boxed mini figure. With 12 variants and two special edition figures, these mystery figures have identical packaging, meaning you have no idea what you'll get. Although we feel compelled to mention that it's kind of weird that these figures seem to portray every racial stereotype in the book. We don't necessarily mind--after all, we sell Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and that leaned on stereotypes for its characters. But it's interesting nonetheless. However, all of these figures are cute as a button.

Manaka De Ikuno!! Komaki Manaka Ani-Statue

This character comes to you from an RPG parody called Manaka de Ikuno!! Final Dragon Chronicle Guilty Requiem, which is a spin-off of the To Heart 2 series. Komaki Manaka is portrayed here in a sorceress outfit, scantily clad in black and complete with a magic staff. She's sculpted in 1/8 scale, standing 8 inches tall.

Marvel Black Cat Bishoujo Statue

Normally, there's only one new Bishoujo statue each month. But this month, just in time for the Holidays, Kotobukiya is raising the bar. In addition to DC's Wonder Woman, we're getting Marvel's Black Cat, from the Spider-Man series. A cat burglar, she's shown here in 1/7 scale, over 9 inches tall, and suited up in black latex and white fur trim. Also, some very interesting liberties have been taken with her display base, with its warped perspective.

Ms. Marvel Bishoujo Statue

Three of them? This is unprecedented, but it's a welcome surprise. A former member of three different Avengers teams, the X-Men, and numerous other organizations like NASA, Ms. Marvel is shown here in a more recent costume (she's had quite a few), striking a pose atop an exclusive display base. Matching the other newer Bishoujo figures at 1/7 scale and, like all the others, based on the designs of illustrator Shunya Yamashita, she stands over 9 inches tall.

Nintendo Mario 2-inch Mini Figure 6-pack

Talk about bang for your buck. We're selling these at only $19.50, and it's a pack of six different action figures from the Mario universe. They include Mario, Luigi, Bullet Bill, Yoshi, a Goomba, and a Bob-omb, all of which measure approximately 2 inches in height. We're actually glad about this; previously, there were plans to release them individually, but when you're dealing with smaller figures, it makes more sense to package them in a bundle.

One Shot Bug Killer Interceptor Doll Hoi Hoi-san Change of Costume Fine Scale Model Kit

In a future where bugs are immune to pesticides, robot manufacturers have created tiny robot girls, also known as "Bug Killers." Hoi Hoi-San is one of them, and she's had quite a few model kits. This most recent one feature her in a more informal costume, has about 150 pieces, and, like all the others, is 1/1 scale.

Ore No Imoto Ga Konnani Kawaii Wake Ga Nai Kirino Kosaka Ani-Statue

Aside from that title being a mouthful, it translates into "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute." And this figure certainly fits the bill. The adorable Kirino Kosaka is shown here in her school uniform, in a playful pose as depicted by illustrator Kanazaki Hiro. She's 1/8 scale and stands over 7 inches tall.

Welcome to Pia Carrot 2: Aizawa Maid PVC Figure

Welcome to Pia Carrot 2! We've been waiting for you! This 12 1/4 inch statue depicts Aizawa Tomomi in her frilly maid outfit, complete with a wooden base and a tray. Marking the 10th anniversary of the Pia Carrot series, Aizawa comes in a window box, ready to display, and, more importantly, ready to serve.

The final two items on the order this month are two Nintendo Plush Backpacks, one of Mario and one of Yoshi. Both backpacks are approximately 18 inches in height and have multiple pockets for whatever you need to carry.
